A Passionate  Business

“Start every day of your business with passion and a positive attitude, not just the first day.” – Kenneth OE Sundin

It’s famously said that if you find a job you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.

It’s also said that successful people do what they love and love what they do, so there’s a definite theme emerging here… Without passion about what you do long term success in your business will be hard going .

So, what does it really mean to be passionate about what you do?

Let’s face it, no matter how much you love what you do, you’re going to have bad days, right? Whatever line of business you’re in, there are going to be challenges and times when you really need to do stuff that you’d rather not be doing, so is it even possible to remain passionate about what you do?

The answer is yes.

Being passionate is not about loving every minute of every day, it’s about believing in what you have to offer and believing in your ability to deliver it. When you have that sort of passion, you’re inspired, driven, and motivated to push through the challenges you face, and you know that a bad day or a bad week doesn’t equate to a bad business – you persevere, and you find a way to make a better tomorrow or a better next week.

You do what you do to the best of your ability every day.

Being passionate in business means maintaining a positive attitude every day. Things won’t always go to plan and not everyone is going to share your enthusiasm, but your belief in what you’re doing must remain unshakeable.

Steve Jobs once said, “If today were the last of your life, would you do what you were going to do today?” That’s a great question to ask yourself at the start of every day. If you’re passionate about what you do, the answer is going to be yes far more often than no. The full quote is…

“When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: ‘If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.’ It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘no’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.”
